Transport

Getting There

  • There is no access by car to the London 2012 Games. The organisers plan for 100% of spectators to get to the Games by public transport - the aim is to be the greenest games ever.
  • The transport system will be extremely busy - so if you are going to an event it is important to book your journey well in advance.
  • The majority of spectators will travel to the Games by rail.
  • There is no spectator parking at London 2012 venues, except for a limited number of Blue badge spaces that must be booked in advance.
  • To plan a journey to London 2012 venues between 18 July 2012 and 14 September 2012 go to the spectator journey planner www.london2012.com/spectators/travel.
  • Stratford Regional, Stratford International and West Ham are the three gateway stations that will serve the Olympic Park.
  • Stratford Regional links directly with the Norwich-London rail route.
  • Stratford International links with the Kings Lynn-London route. During the Games, The Javelin® highspeed bullet train service will run from St Pancras International to Stratford International in just 7 minutes. It will then be just a few hundred metres walk to the Olympic Park.
  • Tickets to the games will include free travel on London public transport for the day of your ticket.
  • Use the journey time finder to work out roughly how long you should allow for travel between recommended stations serving the venues. Please note that this is a guide only and allow plenty of time to get to your event. Journey times will be affected by events on the day, your mode of transport, and the time of day.
